Bèl Atelier has been five years in the making - and a lifetime of dreaming.
The biggest challenge was finding the right people who truly understood the level of detail, fit and finish behind the vision to achieve true craftsmanship.
Fabric was one of the most important parts of creating Bèl Atelier. I was really drawn to natural fibres and fabrics that felt fuild, and beautiful against the body, so the collection mainly uses silk and other lightweight natural fabrics.
As everything was sourced locally in Melbourne, there were definitely some limitations in what was available - especially when trying to balance quality, colour, weight, and construction all at once. For one garment, I chose to use a polyester lining simply because it was the best option available for the finish and structure I wanted.
Natural fibres will always be a core part of Bèl Atelier’s foundation, and as the brand continues to grow, I’m excited to keep expanding the range of fabrics and sourcing possibilities available to future collections.
